A Lhasa Story on Screen: "Linka Linka" at Hong Kong Film Archive, 11 Oct

Chinese Mainland Film Panorama 2026 brings "Linka Linka" to Hong Kong Film Archive (Cinema) on 11 October (Sun) at 4pm, tickets at $75. Tibetan director Kangdrun turns away from pastoral and pilgrimage imagery to everyday life among young people in modern Lhasa: a director who spent years in Beijing returns to shoot a film about childhood, and one night's meeting with an old friend upends her memories, while she faces unresolved distance with her father. A short film, "Linka, Linka", screens alongside. Public coverage reports the film won Best Film at the Firebird Awards. If you are interested, check current ticketing arrangements.

Editor’s noteIf you want a Tibetan story without the usual pastoral imagery, this Lhasa-set film is worth noting: 11 October, 4pm, Hong Kong Film Archive, tickets $75.
