Chinese Mainland Film Panorama 2026: "Chongqing Hot Pot"

Chongqing Hot Pot Digs Into a Bank Vault: "Chongqing Hot Pot" Screens Oct 9 at Space Museum

The Chinese Mainland Film Panorama 2026 brings Yang Qing's "Chongqing Hot Pot" to the Hong Kong Space Museum Lecture Hall on 9 October (Friday) at 7:30pm, with tickets at $75. In air-raid-shelter-filled Chongqing, three close friends run a hot pot restaurant on the brink of closing. To sell it for a better price, they dig and expand — and break into a bank vault. With piles of cash in front of them, brotherhood, an old romance and gang conflict collide into an absurd storm. The 2016 film runs 98 minutes, in Putonghua and Chongqing dialect with Chinese and English subtitles, starring Chen Kun, Bai Baihe, Qin Hao and Yu Entai. The director continues the confined-space storytelling of his university drama project. Check current ticketing arrangements if you plan to go.

Editor’s note$75 for a Chongqing air-raid-shelter hot pot storm — see you at the Space Museum on 9 October.
