Free papercutting workshop at Shek Tong Tsui Public Library on 7 Nov
The first session of the Hong Kong Public Libraries' "Art of Chinese Papercutting" series runs on Saturday, 7 November 2026, from 11:00am to 12:30pm in the Extension Activities Room of Shek Tong Tsui Public Library. Participants use scissors to cut patterns from red paper made for Chinese papercutting, then mount the work in a paper frame. The library provides materials and cleaning supplies; attendees may bring their own materials and protective or stain-prevention items if needed.
The workshop is conducted in Cantonese and admission is free. It is open to people aged 15 or above, and places are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration starts two weeks before the event, on 24 October 2026; the booking number is 2922 6055. The organiser asks participants to arrive on time, otherwise the registration will be cancelled and the seat may be given to someone waiting on site.
The event will be cancelled if the No. 8 or above tropical cyclone warning signal, the black rainstorm warning signal or the Government's "extreme conditions" announcement is still in effect three hours before it starts. If you plan to go, call ahead to reserve a place.
Editor’s noteFree with materials provided, a good fit for anyone aged 15 or above who wants to try papercutting; call 2922 6055 from 24 October to reserve a place, first come, first served.
