Sung Wong Toi Garden: A Historic Landmark in Kowloon City District

Sung Wong Toi Garden sits at the junction of Sung Wong Toi Road and Ma Tau Chung Road in Kowloon City District, a landmark with strong historical meaning. Legend says the last two Southern Song emperors, pursued by Yuan forces, stayed in Kowloon City; later a boulder on the coastal hill known as Sacred Hill was carved with the three characters "Sung Wong Toi". In the 1950s the hill was levelled for the Kai Tak airport expansion, and the carved boulder was cut into a rectangular block and preserved.
