Kwun Yum Temple, Hung Hom: A Grade 1 Historic Building on Chang Kwan Lane

Kwun Yum Temple in Hung Hom stands on Chang Kwan Lane in Kowloon City District. Built in 1873 (the 12th year of Tongzhi in the Qing dynasty), it is a two-hall, one-courtyard, three-bay temple with gable roofs over the halls and a hip-and-gable roof over the courtyard, plus fine plaster mouldings and Shiwan ceramics along the main ridge. It was graded a Grade 1 historic building in 2010. Visitors come at Kwun Yum's birthday, and many also turn up for the annual Kwun Yum Treasury Opening on the 26th day of the first lunar month. Past reports mention overnight opening and incense limits during that period, but those dates are old, so check the latest opening arrangements with the relevant body before you go.
