A half-day at Lei Cheng Uk Han Tomb and Han Garden

Sham Shui Po usually means computer malls and street snacks, but there is an Eastern Han tomb tucked away near Tonkin Street. The Lei Cheng Uk Han Tomb was found in 1955 while a hillside was being levelled for the estate; based on its chamber form, brick inscriptions and finds, it is dated to the Eastern Han period (25–220 AD). Excavators recorded 58 burial items, including 50 pottery pieces and 8 bronze objects, and it became a monument in 1988. The museum displays these finds plus an exhibition on the tomb and its discovery. Next door, Han Garden follows Han-style landscaping with pavilions, bridges, water and ponds, making a easy pairing with the indoor visit.
