A Heritage Stroll at HKU: The Red-Brick Main Building in Pok Fu Lam

The University of Hong Kong sits in Pok Fu Lam. Founded in 1911 and teaching from the following year, it is the city's oldest higher-education institution. Several campus buildings are declared monuments or historic buildings; the oldest is the three-storey Main Building completed in 1912, with red brick, Ionic granite columns, a central clock tower and corner towers, its exterior declared a monument in 1984. Others include the Hung Hing Ying Building, Eliot Hall, Tang Chi Ngong Building, May Hall, the Fung Ping Shan Building (now the University Museum and Art Gallery) and University Hall, now a male residence.
