A Slow Stroll Through Chai Wan Park: Lake, Cannons and Scout Hill

Chai Wan Park sits on Tsui Wan Street in Eastern District and covers about 7 hectares. The park has an artificial waterfall, a lake and a model boat pool, so a walk here is more than just lawns.

Its more unusual feature is a pair of old cannons. They were unearthed in 1973 during seabed excavation works in Chai Wan, believed to have been discarded by soldiers once stationed at a nearby barracks, and have been displayed near a small hill (also called Scout Hill) in the park since 1985.

You could pair a visit with other Eastern District spots such as Law Uk Folk Museum or the Hong Kong Museum of the War of Resistance and Coastal Defence, picking one or two to combine. Check opening information before you go.
