Tin Hau Temple, Shau Kei Wan sits on Shau Kei Wan Main Street East in Eastern District. Built in 1873, it was rated a Grade II historic building in 2010. The temple has a two-hall, three-bay layout, with the main hall dedicated to Tin Hau. Also known as Mazu, Tin Hau is said to have been born Lin Mo-niang in Fujian during the Song dynasty and, according to legend, saved many people from shipwrecks, so those who make a living from the sea worship her as a patron deity.
