University Hall: A Heritage Stop on Pok Fu Lam Road

University Hall is a striking heritage building on a leafy hill along Pok Fu Lam Road in Southern District, mixing Tudor, Gothic and Renaissance revival styles. Built around 1861 by Scottish merchant Douglas Lapraik as Douglas Castle, it later became Nazareth House after the French Mission bought it in 1894. The University of Hong Kong acquired it in 1954 and has used it as a male hall since 1956. Its exterior was declared a monument in 1995. For travel, you can use the Transport Department's HKeMobility and enter "香港大學大學堂外部" as the destination. Check the latest opening arrangements before you go.
