The Béthanie in Pok Fu Lam: A Neo-Gothic Heritage Campus

The Béthanie in Pok Fu Lam is a South District heritage site with a story. Built on Pok Fu Lam Road in 1875 by the Paris Foreign Missions Society as a rest home for missionaries, it is Neo-Gothic in style and mainly comprises a chapel, a sanatorium and servants' quarters.

It closed in 1974 and was later taken over by the government, then leased to the University of Hong Kong from 1978 to 1997. After restoration and conversion finished in 2006, it became the campus of the HKAPA School of Film and Television, with two performance venues, an exhibition hall, a chapel and a museum. It was declared a monument in 2013.
