Hung Shing Temple, Ap Lei Chau: A Seafront Heritage Stop in Southern District

Hung Shing Temple in Ap Lei Chau, Southern District, is dedicated to the sea deity Hung Shing, with Guandi, Tai Sui, Man Cheong and Guanyin also worshipped. Listed as a monument in 2014, it keeps Qing-dynasty Shiwan ceramics and a bell cast in the 38th year of the Qianlong reign (1773), the year the temple is estimated to have been built. It is among the few temples retaining its original seafront feng shui layout. The Hung Shing Festival on the 13th day of the second lunar month is a major annual event in the Ap Lei Chau community, drawing sea and land residents. Public coverage notes visitor interest.
