Tin Hau Temple, Stanley: A Seaside Guardian in Southern District

Stanley is often associated with its waterfront and market, but Tin Hau Temple sits along Stanley Main Street. According to 香港自遊樂在18區, the temple was built in 1767 and rebuilt several times, with the present structure completed in 2002. Tin Hau, also known as Mazu, is said to have been Lin Moniang of Fujian in the Song dynasty, credited with saving people from shipwrecks, so seafarers worship her as a guardian. On the 23rd day of the third lunar month, worshippers visit for Tin Hau's birthday. To plan a trip, use the Transport Department's HKeMobility and enter 赤柱廣場 as the destination.
