Blake Pier at Stanley: A Seafront Pier Rebuilt from an Old Canopy

Blake Pier at Stanley is a Southern District spot listed by Hong Kong Free Walk in 18 Districts. Its story is unusual: the original Blake Pier stood in Central, was dismantled in 1993 under the Central reclamation plan, and only its steel canopy was kept, placed in Morse Park No. 4 in Wong Tai Sin. In 2005 the government reassembled the canopy in the original style at the waterfront pier beside Murray House in Stanley, creating today's Blake Pier at Stanley.

The canopy matches Murray House in architectural style and heritage value, and the rebuilt structure serves as a pier again. Visitors can take the kaito ferry between here and Po Toi Island. For planning, pair the pier with a meal at Murray House or a walk along Stanley Promenade at dusk.
