Woo Cheong Pawn Shop: A Century-Old Verandah Block in Wan Chai

Woo Cheong Pawn Shop at 60 Johnston Road, Wan Chai, together with three neighbouring tong lau, forms a rare row of four connected verandah-style buildings; parts are estimated to date from before 1888. Features include high ceilings, a light well, French windows opening onto the verandah, and a covered colonnade pavement, blending Chinese and Western design. Conservation and renovation were completed in 2008, the exterior lettering remains visible, and it was graded a Grade II historic building in 2009.
