Hung Shing Temple, Wan Chai: A Century-Old Shrine on a Boulder

Hung Shing Temple in Wan Chai sits on Queen's Road East, and according to the 香港自遊樂在18區 listing it is believed to have been built before 1847. Built on a boulder and against the hillside, it is a simple old shrine. It once looked out to the bay, but after more than a century of reclamation it is now surrounded by buildings. Hung Shing is the main deity, with Kwun Yum and Pao Kung also worshipped; the listing notes worshippers visit on the 1st and 15th of each lunar month and on Kwun Yum's birthday. It was graded a Grade I historic building in 2010. You could plan it alongside nearby Blue House or Wan Chai Yuk Hui Temple, and check opening arrangements before you go.
