Golden Bauhinia Square: Flag-raising and the Forever Blooming Bauhinia in Wan Chai

Golden Bauhinia Square sits on Expo Drive East in Wan Chai, next to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. It holds the Forever Blooming Bauhinia sculpture, known as the Golden Bauhinia, a gift from the Central People's Government marking Hong Kong's 1997 return. The HKCEC's northwest plaza also features the Monument in Commemoration of the Return of Hong Kong to China, its pillar inscribed with the title written by former President Jiang Zemin, complementing the sculpture.

According to the Hong Kong 18-District Free Tour listing, a flag-raising ceremony is held daily at 8am; on National Day and HKSAR Establishment Day it is accompanied by a police band playing the national anthem, with disciplined services honour guards, a government fleet and helicopters saluting on land, sea and in the air.
