Hong Kong with your dog: two half-day walks and food plans

Choose one destination and leave time to pause

There is little benefit in combining both destinations on the same day. For a first visit, reserve roughly two hours and begin with a short walk before deciding whether to extend it. Fit photographs around pauses instead of treating every stop as compulsory.

The Mills: a short walk before a meal in the same complex

The Mills is at 45 Pak Tin Par Street, Tsuen Wan, with general opening hours of 10am–10pm daily. Its pet policy covers outdoor and designated indoor areas and requires dogs to stay leashed. Check individual shop or gallery entrances before going inside.

• 10:30am: settle near the entrance and identify the return pickup point before heading for food.
• 10:45–11:15am: begin in the ground-floor common areas and make a short out-and-back walk through permitted passages. Pause between stretches.
• 11:15am–12:15pm: use the branch below after confirming that day’s dog arrangements. Switch to takeaway or leave earlier if the wait becomes the main activity.
• 12:15–12:30pm: allow time to return to the pickup point. Add another short loop only if your dog is still comfortable.

A dining branch checked by address: KOKO G09

KOKO Coffee Roasters, G09 at The Mills, appears in FEHD’s list updated on 28 September under licence 2292806995. The branch page lists 9:30am–10pm daily; this itinerary starts after the complex’s general opening time.

Tell the branch your dog count and size, then confirm the time, seating area, stroller space and current menu. A permit applies to the named premises; daily seating arrangements still need confirmation.

Use a lead no longer than 1.5 metres, securely held by an adult or tied to a fixture, including when the dog is in a carrier. The general permission excludes statutory “fighting dogs” and “known dangerous dogs”. Bring a bowl and ask staff about cleaning arrangements.

Art Park: a waterfront out-and-back with food packed ahead

WestK’s October 2024 access guide lists free Art Park entry and usual daily hours of 6am–11pm, subject to closures. The designated Pet Zone near West Gate permits off-leash activity; keep the lead on elsewhere. Check current WestK announcements before leaving.

Start around 8am near the designated Art Park car park drop-off, allowing 15–20 minutes to settle and stroll towards the waterfront. Pause for water, then choose a short waterfront stretch and return the same way. Consult the map and allow extra time if adding the Pet Zone; off-leash play is optional.

Pack sandwiches, snacks and water, and use a permitted resting spot for food, taking rubbish away. With two adults, one can stay with the dog while the other collects takeaway. Historical pet-friendly listings are insufficient evidence of current indoor dining permission; check the present permit and house rules if you want a table.

Arrange both journeys before packing

For a taxi, disclose the dog’s size, number of animals and stroller dimensions when booking. Transport Department guidance leaves animal carriage to the driver’s discretion. Confirm the entrance, return pickup and applicable extras; the outward ride does not guarantee an immediate ride home.

These plans do not depend on regular MTR or bus services accepting pets. For a pet bus, shuttle or other service, verify that particular departure, booking process and carrier requirements with its operator. “Near an MTR station” only describes a venue’s location.

The Art Park plan is outdoors: reschedule in rain rather than counting on a museum as shelter. If switching to The Mills, confirm the ride and dining space first. Keep an early departure possible at either destination if your dog no longer wants to walk or the surroundings become too crowded.

Budget separately for food and transport

These are GoJoy spending allowances for two adults and one dog, not restaurant prices. Dog food, pet supplies, parking and return transport are additional. Get a transport estimate before deciding between a meal and packed snacks.

• Pack a lead, bowl, water, waste bags, cleaning supplies and a familiar mat. One outing need not require new equipment.
• Save the exact branch name and address, return arrangements and source links. Pack food as a fallback if the table is unconfirmed.
